Quality requirements are set during planning and carried through project management plans, inspection and test plans, hold points and verification activities. Compaction is tested, not assumed. Non-conformances are recorded, corrected and closed out, and the records go to the client. Internal audits, management reviews and client feedback decide what changes next.

Environmental risk is managed through project-specific plans covering erosion and sediment control, waste management, spill response and monitoring. On the National Parks head office job at Perisher, that meant a bespoke plan for working inside Kosciuszko National Park, a long way from suppliers, and finishing before winter closed the road.

Every worker, subcontractor and labour hire person completes company and project induction before starting, and has to demonstrate competency on whatever plant they are about to operate. Incidents are investigated for the cause, not the person.

Every subcontractor and supplier is evaluated and approved before engagement: capability, past performance, safety and environmental record, insurances, licences, competencies and capacity. Approved subcontractors provide licences, insurances, competency records and project-specific SWMS before starting, and are monitored through inspections, audits and coordination meetings while on site.
